This past fall, we began a parish initiative called AXIOM to help understand the direction our God is calling us to travel on this journey to sainthood. Through various means, i.e., surveys, world cafe meetings and Community Forum meetings, we became
VERY aware of our need to use our prayers, talents and treasure to help build that kingdom on our earth. If you have a prayer request, click here. It will be placed in the prayer basket near the altar. Information gathered from the surveys, world cafe and community forum meetings will be shared with the parish, hopefully in January of 2010. I thank all our parishioners who participated in AXIOM this fall.
Our parish has grown from a small rural parish, established in 1880 to one of the larger Johnson County Parishes. (See our Campus Map.) We just received permission from the Archbishop to go ahead and begin construction on our new school addition that will give us new kindergarten rooms, library and media center as well as new administrative offices. We are hopeful construction will be completed by August 1, 2010. Again, I want to thank all our parishioners who have supported us in this endeavor. But our purpose is always the same: Bring the love of Jesus Christ to all whom we touch by our lives. We are a part of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas and our Bishop is Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann.
A parish is more than buildings! It is the Spirit of Jesus living through his people. We are not a perfect parish, with perfect people -- no such thing exists. We are sinners on a journey to sainthood and we invite you to join us on our trip through life to meet our redeemer, Lord and Brother Jesus. We stumble at times, but the purpose of parish is to help each other get back up and continue the journey. Won't you join us?
God bless you,
