What is the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd?
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a religious formation program for children ages 3-12 years. Developed over 50 years ago in Italy by Biblical scholar Sofia Cavaletti and Montessorian Gianna Gobbi, it presents an environment for children to draw closer to God. With materials based on Bible and Liturgy, the deepest elements of our faith are presented to the youngest children; these elements grow in detail and scope as the child grows older. This environment, called an atrium, is a place where study and work lead to contemplation and prayer.
We have had the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd at Holy Trinity since 1995. The coordinator of the program is Diane Olsen. The program serves over 500 children of the parish. It serves children 3 thru 12 years of age.
